Day 0 / Day 1 — Kolkata → Ahmedabad (train)
- Board overnight train from Howrah/Kolkata to Ahmedabad. Typical Howrah ↔️ Ahmedabad express trains take roughly 33–38 hours (check exact train & timings and book AC coaches). Plan to leave in the evening so you maximize daytime on arrival.
- Meal & rest on train.
Day 2 — In transit on train
Continue rail journey. Driver/vehicle meet you at Ahmedabad station on arrival (pre-arrange pickup).
Day 3 — Ahmedabad (1 night)
Arrive Ahmedabad in the morning. Rest at hotel near city centre. Afternoon half-day sightseeing: Sabarmati Ashram, Adalaj Stepwell, Kankaria Lake or old city Pols & markets. Overnight Ahmedabad.
(If arrival is late, swap city time to return evening.)
Day 4 — Ahmedabad → Bhuj (start Kutch) (By Train~6–8 hrs, 330–370 km)
Arrive Bhuj — check into hotel. Evening free (local market or short sightseeing: Aina Mahal, Prag Mahal).
Day 5 — Bhuj (Kutch local) — Dhordo / Rann of Kutch (White Rann)
- Full day: Bhuj local in morning (craft villages, artisan visits). Afternoon transfer to Dhordo / Rann (tent city) — the White Rann sunset is the highlight. The Rann tent city / Dhordo is about ~80–90 km from Bhuj (~2 hrs). Book sunset transfer and tent/camp if you want the Rann experience.
- Night in Bhuj or tent city (if you prefer the Rann overnight experience).

Kala Dungar (Black Hill), Kalo Dungar sunset viewpoints, handicraft villages (Hodka, Bhujodi). Overnight Bhuj.

Practical notes & tips
1. Train booking: Howrah–Ahmedabad trains take ~33–38 hours depending on the service — pick an AC sleeper/AC 3-tier for comfort. Confirm exact train & schedule and book early.
2. (Ahmedabad→Bhuj, Bhuj→Dwarka, Saurashtra to Vadodara). Prepare for early starts and plan rest stops. Distances I used are from recent routing data (examples: Ahmedabad→Bhuj ~330–370 km; Bhuj→Dhordo ~80–90 km; Dwarka→Vadodara ~450–520 km).
3. Rann of Kutch: Best time for the saline white plain & sunset is late afternoon — arrange city transfers or return to Bhuj same evening
4. Gir safaris: Reserve jeep/jeep+permit well ahead (government portal or authorized tour operators). Morning and evening slots exist — morning is recommended. Gir is ~65–70 km from Somnath by road.
5. Nageshwar: Nageshwar Jyotirlinga is about 15–18 km from Dwarka — easy half-day trip.
6. Statue of Unity: Kevadiya (Statue) is ~86–90 km from Vadodara (perfect day trip). Buy timed-entry tickets for viewing gallery early if you want to go up.
